General

The input field is not enabled

Possibility 1:
The keypad is not illuminated

Check whether the USB / FireWire port is firmly connected to the USB / FireWire port connected to your host system.

Option 2:
The „ERROR ” LED is flashing

Check whether a valid smart card is inserted and the orientation is correct. The smart card must be inserted with the contacts facing down.

The security query failed

Feature:
The „ERROR” LED is flashing

An incorrect PIN was entered. Press the „ESC” button to confirm the security prompt again start. (You have a maximum of 8 attempts).

The disk is not recognized

Possibility 1:
Drive icon not showing:

Make sure the HS256S is not connected to a USB hub or extension cable.

Possibility 2:
Missing formatting / partition or unreadable file system:

Option 3:
A poor quality cable is used:

Use Please use the included USB cable and connect the USB connector to your host system.

The disk is running slowly

Please check if you are using at least a USB 2.0 cable or USB 3.0 cable. The HS256S cannot do its normal read and write achieve write speeds if you use a USB 1.1 cable instead of a USB 2.0 or 3.0 cable.

Please check if the HS256S is properly connected to a USB interface.

If the data carrier is still working slowly, please check the following options:Option 1:
A different USB cable is used:


Please use the USB cable included in the scope of delivery and connect the USB plug to yours Host system.

Longer/too long USB may decrease the read and write speed of HS256S.

Possibility 2:

Check whether the USB port is firmly connected to the USB port on your host system.

The HS256S was connected via a USB hub:


Make sure the HS256S is not connected to a USB hub or an extension cable. A USB hub and/or extension cable can reduce the reading and writing speed of the HS256S.

Other devices with the same connection are connected:

Please remove any other USB devices and see if the HS256S works faster afterwards.

Files cannot be written

Make sure the hard drive is formatted with the correct file system for your operating system. The NFTS file system can only be used by Windows users.
