FAQ HS256S/HS128
General
The input field is not enabled
Possibility 1:
The keypad is not illuminated
Check whether the USB / FireWire port is firmly connected to the USB / FireWire port of your host system.
Option 2:
The„ERROR” LED is flashing
Check whether a A valid smart card has been inserted and the orientation is correct. The smart card must be inserted with the contacts facing down.
The security query failed
Feature:
The „ERROR” LED is flashing
An incorrect PIN has been entered. Press the „ESC” button again to prompt the security prompt to start. (You have a maximum of 8 attempts).
The disk is not recognized
Possibility 1:
Drive icon is not displayed:
Make sure the HS256/HS128 is not connected to a USB hub or an extension cable is.
Possibility 2:
Missing formatting / partition or unreadable file system:
Read chapter „Initialization in the administrator or user manual / Partitioning / Formatting“ for more information.
Option 3:
An inferior cable is being used:
Please use the USB cable included in the scope of delivery and connect the USB connector to your host system.
The disk is running slowly
Please check if you are using at least a USB 2.0 cable or USB 3.0 cable. The HS256/HS128 cannot do its normal reading - and write speeds if you use a USB 1.1 cable instead of a USB 2.0 or 3.0 cable.
Please check whether the HS256/HS128 is correctly connected to a USB interface.
If the data carrier is still working slowly, please check the following options:Option 1:
A different USB cable is used:
Please use the included USB cable and connect the USB -Connector with your host system.
A longer / too long USB- may decrease the read and write speed of the HS256/HS128.
Possibility 2:
Incorrect connection:
Check that the USB port is firmly connected to the USB port on your host system.
Possibility 3:
The HS256S was connected via a USB hub:
Make sure that the HS256/HS128 is not connected with connected to a USB hub or extension cable. A USB hub and/or extension cable can reduce the reading and writing speed of the HS256/HS128.
Possibility 4:
There are other devices with the same connection connected:
Please remove all other USB devices and see if the HS256/HS128 works faster afterwards.
Files cannot be written
Make sure the hard drive is formatted with the correct file system for your operating system. The NFTS file system can only be used by Windows users.
